NEW YORK : The United Nations Relief Works Agency, which helps feed the hungry has had its funds interuptted by the United States and United Kingdom. Amnesty International is only one of the many groups internationally who are worried that food insecurity and starvation will kill people in Gaza because of the interuption in humanitarian aid from UNRWA .On January 26, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is a part of the United Nations, issued its decision ordering Israel to do everything in its power to stop the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza; to comply with the main ruling of the International Court of Justice.
Amnesty International and other human rights organizations support the International Court decision.These human rights group call for the United Kingdom and the United States to reverse their decision to interupt funds to UNRWA.
The United States, the United Kingdom provide the greatest amount of military and financial support to Israel. The two countries are joined by 16 other Western nations who have interupted funds to UN Relief Works Agency.Currently, 85 percent of Gaza’s population has been displaced, and nearly 2.2 million are food insecure.It is estimated that the funds of UNRWA will run out by the end of February, which dooms the people of Gaza to certain death.
The International Schiller Institute and such American Jewish organizations as Boston Workers Circle have called on the U.S. Congress and elected representatives to reverse the decision of the Biden administration. File picture
